Red Uma (Horse) Made from Susudake (Smoked Bamboo) with Strap

Susudake is bamboo that has been smoked by the hearth, making it hard and dense, which allows it to effectively transmit the vibrations of the drum. We felt that using artificial or reinforced skin actually softened the sound. It is also favored by famous singers who use real skin, and is a masterpiece that any sanshin enthusiast would want to try at least once.

The back is lacquered red, hence Red Uma. As it's a horse, it has four legs. These legs are formed by layering two pieces of susudake. The sides are marked with the size and the maker's name (之), which is proof of authenticity.

Furthermore, this Red Uma has a strap (75mm long) added by the maker as a playful touch. We believe this is a very rare Red Uma. It has been stored since purchase and has not been used. When you actually use it, you can thread the strap through the strings so you won't lose it.
It will be sent with its original packaging featuring the maker's illustration (though it is a bit worn due to long-term storage).
