A memorial tablet is a Buddhist implement used to enshrine and honor the spirits of the deceased. It is considered an important item for ancestral veneration.
The posthumous Buddhist name (kaimyo) is inscribed on the front of the tablet.
Even without a kaimyo, a suitable tablet can be made using the deceased's secular name (zokumyo) by adding 之霊位 (noirei) after the secular name. It is believed that adding 之霊位 (noirei) after the secular name, even without a kaimyo, carries the same meaning as receiving a kaimyo.

If you wish to have the kaimyo and other details handwritten, we will do so free of charge. Please refer to the last image for examples.
After your purchase, please provide the kaimyo you wish to have handwritten, the posthumous title (e.g., Koji for men, Daishi for women), the date of death, the secular name (full name), and the age at death. We will then handwrite these details for you free of charge. Of course, you are also welcome to purchase the tablet alone.

In the Kanto region, the kaimyo and date of death are inscribed on the front of the tablet, and the secular name and age at death are inscribed on the back.

In the Tokai and western Japan regions, only the kaimyo is inscribed on the front of the tablet, and the secular name and age at death are inscribed on the back.

There are regional differences. If you already have an ancestral memorial tablet, the layout will be made to match that one.
