This is a natural whetstone, so there are some color variations, but it is a firm, deep blue whetstone. Depending on your sharpening method, a Nagura stone may be necessary. As you can see in the images, it does not produce much slurry, but it changes to a rusty color in a short time, so I believe it has good grinding power.
