Japanese Honeybee Attractant Liquid 500ml (250ml x 2) y2502-0009

Description
This is the liquid remaining after boiling the comb waste from Japanese honeybees and extracting beeswax.
It can be used as an attractant during swarming season.
We offer a convenient 2-bottle pack of 250ml each.
We believe PET bottles are less efficient for freezer space compared to these packs when freezing.

Please be cautious when opening the cap, as the contents may be fermented upon arrival.

We aim to ship orders within 2 days of your application, but delays may occur due to circumstances.

Although labeled as an attractant, it is primarily used to impart a scent to the hive box. Japanese honeybees tend to prefer hive boxes with a history of nesting. For new bait hives, using this product to add a scent can simulate a used hive.
Japanese honeybees have a keen sense of smell, so diluting with water is acceptable.
I typically use a 2-4 times dilution.

〈Example Usage Methods〉
?Spray onto the bait hive.
?Apply with a brush.
?Apply with a rag or cloth.
?Boil the hive box or frames in a large pot or industrial can with the attractant mixed in hot water, or
?Pour the liquid with a ladle, or apply with a wooden stick wrapped in cloth.

I used to use an industrial can, but
recently I exclusively use a spray.
I find it to be sufficiently effective.
It is often said that the treated surfaces must be dried thoroughly to prevent mold growth. I have never experienced mold growth with this method.
The bait hive preparation season is also a dry season, and I believe that placing the treated items outside after treatment will dry them quickly without conscious effort.
This is a natural product. As it is collected by hand, there may be residual wax or impurities mixed in, but please do not be concerned.
If using a spray, it is advisable to filter the liquid with a cloth to prevent clogging.
We ship at room temperature. If you do not plan to use the entire amount this season, freezing is recommended for storage.
At room temperature, it can ferment, and if the cap is tightly sealed, the container may expand significantly. While I have used it even after fermentation with effective results, mold may form on the surface of the liquid in the container. Therefore, if you do not plan to use it immediately, freezing is the better option. However, please understand that even with this attractant, beeswax coating, and bait hive lures, there is no 100% guarantee of attracting a swarm. Even with thorough preparation, the success rate for beginners is said to be 10-20%, and for experienced beekeepers, around 30%. Nevertheless, as experienced beekeepers know, the joy of a successful swarm capture is exceptional. It is a truly moving experience. We wish you success with your purchase.
