Taro Okamoto Dice Stool Yamakawa Rattan
Discontinued Product
Saikoro Stool (1957)
by TARO OKAMOTO
This free-spirited design, characteristic of Okamoto, which was said to be difficult to produce, was realized through the exceptional craftsmanship of Yamakawa Rattan. It was reissued in 2011 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his birth, with Mr. Yuzuru Yamakawa, who was involved in its production at the time, supervising the manufacturing. The unique design features a playful element where a star appears within the frame when viewed from a diagonal angle.
Size: W360 x D360 x H360mm
The swirling rattan is recessed towards the center, providing a comfortable seating experience with its elasticity that supports the body. It was used in the artist's own studio alongside a table by Riki Watanabe.
Recommended for those who like Japanese Modern, Mid-Century, Isamu Noguchi, Tendo Mokko, Yamagiwa, Maruni, etc.
This is an authentic product. There are no breaks in the rattan, but there are some dark spots on the rattan nodes. These are inherent to the material from the beginning.
