This was cherished by my late father-in-law, who passed away several years ago.

We have a pond in our home made with Asama stones.

There is a small shrine there, and my father-in-law, whose life's passion was mountaineering, loved his grandfather (our great-grandfather), who was a mountain professional.

This Japanese rock fern was given to him as a gift through a connection when he was involved in garden design for a certain mansion, and it lives alongside other mountain plants.

My father-in-law used to say that this was a very rare Japanese rock fern because the mansion is now a designated cultural property, and he treasured it.
Unfortunately, at the time, I wasn't interested and only listened to his stories, so I never asked which mansion it was.

We have many Japanese rock ferns with thick trunks in our pond, and also in bonsai pots.

After my father-in-law passed away, many of them were given to his close acquaintances who wanted them. However, as generations have changed, we feel that having a few is enough, and we plan to gradually offer them to those who desire them.

In addition to those attached to the pond, bonsai pots, and Asama stones, we had three of these in pots, so we are listing two for now.

It is likely that my father-in-law removed them from the pond and repotted them with the intention of making them into bonsai.

The size also seems to be just right for a bonsai pot.

In the cold season, they close up tightly, and at this time of year, they spread their beautiful, velvety green leaves wide.

In terms of age, if my father-in-law were alive, he would be 75 years old now. Since this Japanese rock fern existed in his great-grandfather's time, its age must be considerable.

I am listing it at this price with mixed feelings, wanting it to sell but also not wanting to part with it.
