Suntory's bottled mineral water was first released in 1970 (Showa 45) for use in restaurants. It was born as a mixer for bars and restaurants against the backdrop of the boom in whiskey highballs, and the bottles from that era have a nostalgic feel, marking the first step in the history that led to the later household product Suntory Natural Water.
Origin: Appeared in 1970 (Showa 45) for restaurants (commercial use).
Purpose: Popularized as a mixer for whiskey highballs.
Features: At the time, the habit of buying water was not yet common, and it was offered in premium-looking bottles.
Subsequent Evolution: In the 1980s, household use became widespread, and in 1991, Suntory Southern Alps Natural Water was released.
This Showa-era retro bottle is a valuable item that tells the story of the food culture and whiskey boom of that time.
