Hagi Ware Shogetsu-an Kiln Sake Bottle and Ochoko Cup Set
Comes with a wooden box and a kiln history booklet.
As you use it, Japanese sake seeps into the cracks (crazing) of the vessel, and the surface color and texture, known as Hagi's Seven Transformations, gradually change.
It has a simple, soft, and gentle feel.
The Kiritakadai (cut foot) is said to have been created to make it easier to tie ropes for carrying when stacked, or as a way to make Hagi ware, which was a kiln for the domain in the Edo period, accessible to commoners by making it appear as a flawed item with a cut.
The wooden box, Tomobako (matching box), has a lid that fits snugly and can be lifted up.
It has dividers and seems suitable for display as a collection.
Although unused, please only purchase if you understand that this is a pre-owned item stored at home.
