Vintage Japanese Porcelain Pagoda Posy or Incense Holder | 1950s–60s Bud Vase
Japan
Vintage mid-century Japanese export miniature porcelain posy or bouquet holder with a functional and charming form. The square opening is lined with notched slots that hold individual stems upright and separated, so even a loose handful of wildflowers or herbs looks arranged. It's a genuinely useful object, not just a pretty one. The porcelain itself is classic Japanese export ware from the 1950s–60s: bright white ground, transfer-printed bouquets in pink, purple, blue, and gold, with gilt trim lines at the rim and four scroll feet. The kind of thing that sat on a dressing table or windowsill for decades and somehow still looks fresh. A few ways to use it today: a small cluster of sweet peas or ranunculus, a few stems of dried lavender or statice, a single garden rose with some greenery tucked in, or fresh herbs from the kitchen snipped short. It also works as a toothpick holder, a small pen holder on a desk, or an incense holder. Origin: Japan | Era: 1950s–1960s | Mark: Made in Japan red ink stamp Material: Porcelain, transfer decoration, gold trim Size: Approximately 3–3.5 tall Condition: Good vintage. No chips or cracks. Minor gilt wear on the feet consistent with age.
