This is a Wajima-nuri lacquerware item. Due to earthquakes, such items are not being produced much, making them difficult to obtain.
My parents purchased this in my hometown of Kanazawa, and it was stored in a kimono chest.
It is light and smooth to the touch, and seems suitable for silk kimonos.
